VISIT THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Simple information for patients, guardians and families.
YOUR VISIT
Tell staff why you came. Report heavy bleeding, trouble breathing, severe pain, collapse or confusion.
Staff record your name and other details needed for your care.
A health worker checks how sick or injured you are. The sickest patients are treated first.
The team examines you and may give treatment, order tests or ask another team to review you.
You may go home, stay for observation, enter a ward or be sent to another hospital.
HOW TRIAGE WORKS
A patient who arrives later may need care before you. Tell staff if your condition gets worse while you wait.
PRIVACY AND ACCESS
These rules protect patients, families and staff.
Do not use mobile phones inside the department unless staff give permission.
Do not take photos, videos or audio recordings. Anyone recording will be told to stop and delete the recording.
HELP US CARE FOR YOU
Ask an approved hospital payment point about current fees and exemptions. Always ask for an official receipt.
